I’m working towards taking the time to unwind.
Ultimately, this is what’ll keep me sane and rejuvenated.

Midnight Thought #3
Posted in Friends, Life with tags Change, Love, Midnight Thoughts on March 10, 2011 by The Regenerating UrchinI might not change the world, but that’s okay. I’ve already begun developing meaningful relationships, creating powerful friendships, and I’d like to think I’ve influenced those around me. Creating a global revolution starts with a revolution of mindsets. We’re rewinding and recreating. The greatest change begins with personal development, self-love, and community.

Posted in Art, Friends on February 9, 2011 by The Regenerating UrchinWhat is the Empowerment of a Woman?
By: Jennifer Arroyo
Beaten down, broken down,
Shut down, stepped down,
Thrown to the ground down;
How many downs does society
Need to value the power of a woman?
Not much, a single woman can make the change,
It is time to accept who we are and arrange
A conference, a party, a rally, a talk at the bar,
On a walk home tonight but it’s no joke what I speak of.
The power of a woman is infinite
As the galaxy in space and even brighter
Than the stars itself in the darkest corner.
The empowerment of a woman has come to
Change society and reform its old ways.
No longer will we accept society for
What they want us to be but
Accept society for what will be
Of us from now on. No longer
Have the chains and locks that never
Lets us free to roam the streets forever.
Never judge a woman’s pretty face,
There is always something more to face.
In the end of the day she is a woman,
A woman with so much to offer than just a pretty face,
A woman of power and moral values to embrace,
A woman greater than you can ever imagine.
She is an empowered woman.

Dear Auricia: A Sarcastic Letter
Posted in Friends, Life with tags Friends, Relationships, School on January 17, 2011 by The Regenerating UrchinDear Auricia,
How has the humanitarian work been going? I have heard so much news concerning T.H.E. I am truly surprised that you have not been featured on any media outlets for all your selfless duties. I do believe you are far more informed about the events that are taking place in that one country…sorry it has slipped my mind for one second. Oh yes Africa! I am pleased with your ability to inform yourself on global affairs. Please do not overwhelm yourself while reading that one book Africa Doesn’t Matter: The Book You Carry In Your Arms Rather Than Your Bag so People Feel Intimidated By Your Knowledge. Speaking of books I was browsing through my rather unimpressive library and recovered one of my childhood favorites Mother Goose’s Nursery Rhymes. I must embarrassingly admit that I always confuse Mother Goose with Mother Theresa must be the similarities in attire. Anyways when I found the book and was reminded of Mother Theresa I was immediately reminded of you. Both of you share such striking similarities that I had to sit down upon this realization. Both of you are hard working humanitarians and you both are known by different names. Of course you do not go by Agnesë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu you go by Violet which is a variation of your middle name. If you do go by Agnesë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu please inform me as I would not like to offend you in any way. On a different note I have recently remembered that you have not visited my humble abode in quite a long while. My mirror has been asking for you all the time. Whenever I get ready in the morning and ask “Oh mirror mirror on the wall who’s the fairest one of all?” It always replies “Not you! Where is Violet I miss her lovely features and exquisite poses reflecting off of my eyes?!” Please come visit me soon. I fear that my mirror might take vengeance on me if you do not provide it with a glimpse of your striking exterior and interior beauty. Until then I shall stick to my compact mirror.
Your Best Friend Until You Read This Letter,
Alexis Cervantes
